Four Days in Burgundy: Itinerary

Day1Day 1

Depart central Paris and take the A6 Autoroute south to the famous village of Chablis, home of many great Chardonnay vineyards.

Visit to local producer for a tasting of variety of their wines and then take lunch in town.

Drive on to the medieval walled city of Beaune, capital of wine and our hotel base for three nights.

Visit to Museum of Wine, followed by tasting of some local vintages. Dinner at hotel.

 

Day2DijonDay 2

Short drive to the attractive village of Aloxe-Corton to visit local domaine to taste a selection of their fine Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines.

Motor north to the city of Dijon. Free time to visit Palais des Ducs and Fine Art Museum, shopping and free time for lunch in city centre.

Return down the Côte de Nuits to the ancient Clos de Vougeot, 12th century birthplace of professional winemaking. Tour of the château museum and wine tasting in local cave.

Dinner in Beaune.

Day3Day 3

Head for the village of Santenay, southern limit of the Côte de Beaune to see vineyards and try excellent local wines.

Then on to the celebrated village of Puligny-Montrachet, source of the World’s greatest white wines. Degustation lunch at famous winemakers’ restaurant.

Cruise through pretty villages set in rolling countryside to the ancient settlement of Saint Romain and its stunning views. Visit cellar for a tasting of red and white wines.

Return to hotel for dinner.

Day4BeauneDay 4

Free time in town to visit the Hospice de Beaune, intriguing 15th century hospital or gift shopping.

By coach for a few minutes to call at Savigny-les-Beaune, visit interesting château for wine tasting.

Retrace our steps towards Paris, stopping of for lunch time visit to the mystical village of Vézelay. Great panoramic views over the Morvan forest from the magnificent hilltop Romanesque basilica.

Wine tasting before returning to Paris.
